I bought these two Opals together and later decided to make them into a unique odd pair of Drops:

The range of options for stone shapes and material is huge. Fresh water Pearls are a good option as they are relatively inexpensive and come in different shapes and a range of very attractive subtle colours.

In this example I thought the shape of the Opals were reminiscent of eyes from Egyptian hieroglyphics and figurines.
